Over the past one hundred years, franchised
dealers have literally changed the landscape of Texas. Opening the
state’s 267,277 square miles to every citizen and making Texas a
better place in the process.
The state is widely populated because of the availability of vehicles
and service in 190 counties and 300 Texas towns. Without new car and
truck dealers Texas wouldn’t be…well, Texas.
Of the many families who own and operate Texas dealerships, several date
back to the very beginning of the vehicle retail industry. Some who
started selling cars from buggy shops, hardware stores and feed stores.
Those dealers decided in 1916 to form an Association to represent their
interests. TADA today proudly represents over 1300 new car and truck
dealerships with in excess of 90,000 employees, all serving Texas.
Virtually every Texan needs private transportation to travel to purchase
food, medicine, clothing and every other necessity of their daily lives.
Texas business and industry would come to a standstill without
franchised dealers to sell and service their vehicles.
Dealers provide essential transportation to their customers while at the
same time serving as a vital economic force for Texas and are the
leading community volunteers in cities throughout the state.
Still primarily home-owned and home-operated, as they have been for over
a century, Texas franchised dealers working together through TADA and
their metropolitan associations are essential to the very fabric of
Texas and of America.
